In several instances the Israelites on their way to the promised land complained and kept wanting to go back to Egypt knowing very well the only thing awaiting them is pain and misery. Whereas there was something better ahead for them- The promised land filled with milk and honey, which God had promised.
At the beginning after they crossed the red sea, witnessing God’s miracle and promise to them as they escaped the clutches of Pharoah, they were all thrilled and praised God. However, whilst in the wilderness, tired after walking for days and nights, seeing no destination in sight, what happened to their faith? They started walking by sight and not by faith. They let their journey define the destination.
Today, ask yourself this question- What is my Egypt? Is it that toxic relationship? The addiction? Or even a traumatic experience you just can’t seem to move on from?
Identify it and seek God throughout your journey of self-recovery and repentance. The journey to God’s promise might not be smooth sailing, and He’s never mentioned it’ll be easy or there won’t be any difficulties awaiting us on the journey but He has promised that He’ll be with us always, even through the storm.
And remember, do not remain bound to what God has already set you loose from! Unlike the Israelites do not look back and get stuck where God wants to release you from. Just keep moving forward, for He is with you always even to the end of the age.
