We take our story from Jeremiah 35
Jeremiah (the prophet of God) presented wine to the Rechabites yet they refused. They stuck to what their forefathers had told them; not to drink wine.
Christians today would easily say, “If a whole prophet of God is offering me something, why should I say no? God speaks to him”.
We also do not know whether Jeremiah knew about the traditions of the Rechabites or if God fully told him who they were or how the outcome would play out.
The question is – what did God just tell you? Was it a long time ago, and you are starting to doubt it? Despite the fact that they could have easily said, “That’s our forefathers, it’s been a long time, maybe it’s time for a change!” they refused.
Are you letting your guard down? Are you second-guessing God? Have you been offered something else? Did a man of God tell you to forget about it?
Keep standing on God’s word and promises. Ask for mercy and His help
Secondly, God used the Rechabites as a reference point for the Israelite children.
Is God able to use you as well?
Is it possible for people to use you as an example of a woman who walked with God, a woman who was diligent in her relationship with him?
Please ask God to help you with this as well.
My sincere hope is that this has blessed you.
Next week, we’ll continue with that chapter. That chapter has more to reveal.
